In most instances, getting into a sports betting market is huge news.
For Colorado sports betting, you would want to shout it from a mountain.
However, Play Maverick Sports did so under the radar over the weekend.
In conjunction with the three Maverick Gaming casinos in Colorado, International Game Technology (IGT) announced its PlaySports platform will power its CO sports betting platform.
Branded as Play Maverick Sports, Colorado users will have a mobile betting app and retail betting kiosks at the casinos when it eventually launches. No timeline was given in the press release in when the app will go live.
As of now, there are 16 Colorado betting apps now live in the state.
Justin Beltram, Maverick Gaming COO, said in a press release:
“IGT’s comprehensive PlaySports technology will enable Play Maverick Sports to engage new players and enhance our portfolio with exceptional sports betting experiences at our casinos and throughout the state of Colorado. The turnkey nature of IGT’s PlaySports solution and its proven ability to deliver positive player experiences across channels were key drivers of our decision to choose IGT as our sports betting growth partner. Maverick Gaming cannot wait to extend the excitement of sports betting to our players and sports fans throughout Colorado.”
Play Maverick Sports launches at right time
The news of Play Maverick Sports getting into the CO market comes on the heels of PointsBet finally making news in the state for its launch.
Dubbed Colorado’s “Hometown sportsbook,” PointsBet launched its mobile app last week.
It also comes at a time in which the market is coming into its own.
After a record $207.6 million handle in September, October should prove to be even better.
With all of the major U.S. sports in action for the month, including the Denver Broncos and NFL, we’ll see how high that number can get.
Even though the Broncos have struggled in 2020, betting on orange and blue is still king.
So Play Maverick Sports could try to reach Broncos Country with six games left in the season, if it goes live in the state before the end of the season.
IGT currently provides B2B sports betting operations in 15 states.
Enrico Drago, IGT PlayDigital senior vice president, said in the release:
“By leveraging the IGT PlaySports turnkey solution, Maverick Gaming is positioned to benefit from the entire PlaySports value chain and operate a top-quality, cross-channel sports betting program. IGT will apply the experience and expertise that we have gained through our leading B2B sports betting operations in 15 U.S. states to help fuel the success of Maverick Gaming’s Colorado sports betting enterprise.”
As for the next sportsbooks to launch in the state, look for PlayUp and the SuperBook to potentially be the next apps to go live.
