Colorado Men’s Basketball With Great Futures Betting Value At The Moment

The Colorado men’s basketball team is riding a season-worst three-game losing streak and the Buffs dropped out of the Associate Press Top 25 poll for the first time since December this week. Not ideal as they head into their season finale Saturday at Utah. How has it affected CU’s national championship and Pac-12 championship futures odds with March Madness ready to get into full swing? Let’s take a look.

Pac-12 Tournament futures

A couple weeks ago the Buffs were in the driver’s seat for the Pac-12 regular-season crown. Now, however, CU is tied for fourth and could finish anywhere from second to seventh depending on how this week’s games play out. The top four seeds get a first round bye in the conference tournament in Las Vegas next week.

Despite all of that, Colorado is tied with Arizona for the second best odds to win the Pac-12 Tournament according to both DraftKings and 888Sport. DraftKings has the pair at +330, while 888Sport lists them at +430.

Both sportsbooks have defending champion Oregon (+140 and +240, respectively) as the favorite, while California faces the longest odds (+6600/+6700).

In order for the Buffs to right the ship they need to get back to playing shutdown defense, reduce turnovers and start getting to the free-throw line again. Colorado’s five lowest totals in free-throw attempts have occurred during their past six games.

Buffs National Championship and Final Four futures

As for winning it all, the longest odds can be found at FanDuel (+7500), while DraftKings (+6000) has the lowest. When it comes to making the Final Four, FanDuel (+1000) likes the Buffs’  chances better than DraftKings (+1400).

Don’t forget the Buffs were ranked No. 16 just a few weeks ago. They also have one of the best wins of any team in the country this season by beating No. 3 Dayton in overtime in December. The Flyers’ only other loss this season was against top-ranked Kansas, also in overtime.

For CU to make a deep run in the Pac-12 and NCAA Tournaments they’ll need to get big contributions from juniors McKinley Wright and Tyler Bey, both of whom could decide to turn pro after this season. As important as those two are though, CU’s defensive struggles and turnover issues likely are the biggest worry for head coach Tad Boyle.

Overall NCAA Championship futures outlook

Kansas is currently the favorite at all the major sportsbooks. The Jayhawks’ best odds are at FanDuel (+650), while 888Sport (+800) has the longest. Gonzaga and Baylor are next in line, Bet365 has the longest odds on both, with the Bulldogs at +1100 and the Bears at +1200.

As for traditional powerhouse Duke, the Blue Devils longest odds can be found at Bet365 (+1500). Oregon is the top Pac-12 team and 888Sports has the Ducks’ longest odds (+2600).

Final Four futures

Not surprisingly – Kansas, Gonzaga and Baylor also have the best odds of making it to the Final Four. FanDuel has the longest odds on the trio, with the Jayhawks at -140 and the Bulldogs and Bears at -110.

The longest odds for Duke can be found at FanDuel (+250) and for Oregon at DraftKings (+500).
