PlayColorado managing editor Ken Pomponio is a fourth-generation Coloradan and career sports journalist with more than 30 years covering the gamut from the preps to the pros.

A lifelong Front Range resident and son of 1960s Denver Broncos season-ticket holders, Ken is a long-time sports wagering enthusiast whose experience and passion shine though in his coverage. If he isn’t writing about Colorado sports, he’s likely watching a live local game, reading up on a team or listening to a local sports podcast.

He also is long-time sports betting enthusiast and frequent Las Vegas visitor eager to analyze and assist in the understanding of this rapidly burgeoning U.S. industry. It truly was a landmark moment when sports betting went live here in the Centennial State in May of 2020.

Ken got his start in the print business, reporting, editing and designing for Front Range newspapers ranging from the Loveland Reporter Herald to the Denver Post to the Wyoming Tribune-Eagle in Cheyenne.

He also has been a long-time contributor of digital sports betting, fantasy football and college sports content for the Gannett/USA Today network, including The Huddle, SportsBookWire.com and as an original Western Athletic Conference blogger for USA Today Online in the mid-1990s.

Away from the keyboard, Ken can be found spending time with his family and/or imbibing in the bountiful outdoor pursuits his picturesque home state has to offer.
