It was a case of “close but no billion-dollar cigar” for a Colorado woman who’d purchased a Powerball ticket via Jackpocket, the online Colorado Lottery courier service.
She was just one number away from winning the big $1.2 billion jackpot on Nov. 2. She did, however, bank $1 million from that drawing. And that made her Jackpocket’s 22nd millionaire to win through their service.
Nobody won the huge prize that night, and the Powerball jackpot rolled over again. That marked the 39th rollover since the jackpot started growing in August. It quickly climbed to the record-setting $2.04 billion. That went to a very lucky Southern Californian.
The Erie winner’s brush with a billion wasn’t the first time a Coloradan has missed a gigantic jackpot by just one number. In one drawing back in 2018, seven Centennial State players missed out by one number each on an almost $1.6 billion Mega Millions jackpot.
Jackpocket makes it easy to play Colorado Lottery games

“[We are] so proud to facilitate this life-changing win for our 21st lottery millionaire. Jackpocket was founded on the idea that the lottery should be accessible and convenient to play, and we are thrilled when we get to celebrate a major win like this one.”
Jackpocket had launched in Colorado that same month when it became the official digital lottery partner of the Colorado Rockies baseball team. Overall, Jackpocket debuted in the US in 2013 and is now available to lottery players in the following areas:

- Team up with other Jackpocket players in public or private lottery pools
Colorado Lottery makes millionaires in Pueblo and Edgewater
Despite one resident coming within a whisper of a billion-dollar jackpot just to miss it, all in all, Coloradans had pretty good lottery luck during Thanksgiving Month. The Nov. 5 drawing saw two more state residents become millionaires.
One of them bought their winning ticket at Winners Corner in Pueblo, and the other at Players Café in Edgewater. Also that night, another three Coloradans netted $150,000 each, and still another three each banked $50,000.
