SBK Sportsbook App Review & Code
Disclaimer: SBK is not yet live in Colorado. This review and bonus offers will be updated post-launch.
Colorado may soon become the US launching pad for UK-based betting exchange Smarkets’ new SBK mobile sports betting app.
Thanks to the deal it signed with Full House Resorts in October 2019, even before lawmakers passed sports betting legislation in Colorado, Smarkets will come on as one of the casino owner’s internet sports betting operators in Colorado. It is expected to use this market access to launch its new SBK mobile sports betting app.
Full House and Smarkets have applied for all the necessary licenses. In fact, the pair could launch SBK under one of Full House Resorts’ Colorado master licenses for sports wagering as soon as May 1.
Full House Resorts is the owner and operator of Bronco Billy’s Casino and Hotel in Cripple Creek, Colorado. Its other master licenses for sports betting have been taken up by partnerships with luxury US casino operator Wynn Resorts and US horse racing and casino giant Churchill Downs and its emerging online gaming brand BetAmerica.
SBK CO welcome bonus
If SBK hopes to survive in what will undoubtedly be a highly competitive Colorado online and mobile sports betting market, it is going to have to come up with a competitive bonus structure to draw in new players. This may include a no-deposit bonus, risk-free bet or first-time deposit bonus.
In the UK, SBK launched in 2019 offering to refund up to the first £20 worth of losses to new players who deposit £20.
DraftKings Sportsbook is a market leader in several other states and awards new players a 20% first-deposit bonus and a risk-free first bet. FanDuel Sportsbook is also among the market leaders elsewhere in the US and offers new players up to a $1,000 risk-free bet.
You can expect SBK to launch with a welcome bonus structure competitive with these offers.
This section will be updated with information regarding SBK’s own welcome bonus when the information becomes available.

Regular promotions at Smarkets CO
In addition to a competitive welcome bonus structure for new players, the sportsbook by Smarkets might have to run regular promotions to retain existing ones in Colorado.
Most online and mobile sportsbooks do this. They run promotions surrounding major sporting events like the Super Bowl and March Madness, and daily promotions including:
- Parlay insurance — Returns bets to parlay bettors who lose only one leg.
- Odds boosts — Boosts the odds for certain bets.
- Comeback protection — Returns bets when a team blows a late lead.
Is SBK legal in Colorado?
SBK will be a fully legal and regulated online sports betting app operating inside Colorado once its partner Bronco Billy’s Casino and Hotel in Cripple Creek is granted a master license for sports betting. Of course, the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission will also have to test the app and approve its launch first.
There was a federal ban on sports betting in the US until the Supreme Court lifted it in May 2018. In November 2019, Colorado voters supported a referendum giving the state the right to legalize sports betting.
The state is now finalizing regulations to govern sports betting in Colorado and has given the first sportsbooks the green light to launch on May 1, 2020.
To legally place a bet with SBK in Colorado, you must be 21 or older, signed up for an account and inside state lines. SBK will verify your age using the last few digits of your Social Security number and your location using geolocation software.
Ultimately, you won’t have to be a Colorado resident to bet with the SBK app, but you will have to be 21 or older and inside the state.
The state requires all Colorado sportsbooks to obtain a license, but only brick and mortar casinos can apply. Smarkets has partnered with Bronco Billy’s Casino and Hotel in Cripple Creek to gain market access.

The SBK app in Colorado
You will be able to bet with SBK wherever you are in Colorado with internet access using the SBK mobile sports betting app.
In the UK, SBK operates as a mobile app only, meaning it doesn’t take bets through its website.
Android and iOS users will be able to download the app from the SBK website.
The SBK mobile betting app runs on proprietary software built by the company’s engineering team in Los Angeles.
The things that will separate the SBK Colorado mobile betting app from the competition are:
- Betting exchange-based odds promising better pricing.
- Social-focused interface with betting tips, comments and peer-to-peer discussions.
- Unique connection to one of the world’s largest betting exchanges.

All account functions, including deposits and withdrawals, will be available through the app.

Customer service at Smarkets in Colorado
In the UK, the Smarkets betting exchange offers customer service 24/7 via email, Twitter, live chat, phone and even by mail.
Of course, the peer-to-peer nature of a betting exchange requires a heavier commitment to customer service than a traditional sportsbook app. That said, SBK’s dedicated customer service team in the UK answers questions by:
- Email: [email protected]
- Twitter: @sbk
- Phone: +44 207 617 7413 (9 a.m. to midnight).
You can expect the same level of customer service from SBK in Colorado.
Responsible gaming at SBK in Colorado
SBK remains committed to responsible gambling and educating its customers on responsible gambling principles.
To that end, the UK SBK app allows for self-exclusion and the setting of loss and deposit limits. In fact, the SBK online help center includes documents walking you through these processes.
About Smarkets and SBK
Smarkets operates one of the world’s largest betting exchanges, having handled over $15 billion in sports betting transactions since its launch overseas in 2008.
Betting exchanges allow you to set your own odds and trade against others willing to take on the bet. Exchanges like Smarkets take a percentage fee from the winner of the bet. Over the past decade, Smarkets has developed a reputation in the UK as a popular exchange for bets on sports and political events, including US elections.
In August 2019, Smarkets launched its new sportsbook product, SBK, in the UK. SBK is a unique mobile sports betting app that combines exchange-based odds with a social-focused interface. SBK was built in-house on a proprietary software platform by the company’s engineering team in Los Angeles. Upon its launch in the UK, Smarkets said it expected to introduce SBK to the US sports betting market in the near future.
That means either the SBK Colorado mobile sports betting app or Indiana mobile sports betting app will be the first Smarkets mobile sports betting app to take bets in the US. That’s because the company’s deal with Full House Resorts also includes online market access in Indiana through Rising Star Casino Resort in Rising Sun, Indiana.
At the time it entered the agreement, Smarkets said it will be initially launching in America with the SBK app, but it sees an opportunity in the future to introduce its betting exchange to the US as more states adopt online sports betting.
However, finding the critical mass to make an exchange work will be difficult with fenced-in state markets, particularly in smaller states like Indiana and Colorado. Smarkets would likely need larger states to get on board or interstate sports wagering agreements to launch first for a betting exchange to be successful.
Wrapping up: SBK in Colorado
Smarkets offers a unique gaming product the likes of which the US has never seen. Although it hopes to one day bring its betting exchange to the US, it’s launching first with a more traditional sportsbook mobile app in Colorado.
If SBK can succeed in bringing betting exchange-based pricing to a sportsbook, as it is attempting in the UK, it will be successful in the US. Price is king in the US, and savvy sports bettors shop for lines.
However, if SBK prices are the same as its competitors, it will likely be just another sportsbook app in what’s shaping up to be a rather saturated market.
The fact SBK is an app-only product won’t help either, as the competition is sure to be taking bets wherever it can get them.
Neither Smarkets nor SBK has the kind of brand recognition in the US that other sportsbook operators do, and if they can’t separate themselves in the very crowded Colorado sports betting market by offering discount prices, they’ll need to come up with another effective marketing strategy.
If they don’t, SBK might not make it to the day when the Smarkets betting exchange becomes viable in the US market.
