BetMGM Signs Multiyear Deal With PGA Tour As Official Betting Operator

BetMGM continues to grip it and rip it.

The sportsbook is now the official betting operator of the PGA Tour. It was announced on Monday that the two sides agreed to a multiyear deal that includes a content and marketing relationship.

Included in the agreement is that BetMGM now has the rights to content and video that it can use on its sportsbook platforms for pre- and post-game betting programming. The press release notes that BetMGM can also send highlights to users who bet on golf.

BetMGM inks another deal with major US sports league

This deal indicates a clear initiative by Roar Digital to become and remain a serious player in US sports betting and the Colorado betting market. BetMGM is the sports betting platform for Roar Digital, the joint venture between MGM Resorts and GVC Holdings.

BetMGM also has partnerships with MLB, the NBA, NHL, MLS and WNBA.

If that wasn’t enough, BetMGM also has an agreement with the Denver Broncos.

The multiyear deal with the Broncos includes an in-stadium betting lounge on the first concourse at Empower Field at Mile High.

There’s definitely no coincidence about the timing of the announcement either.

The PGA Championship is set to start Thursday, Aug. 6. That serves as the first opportunity for Colorado sports fans to wager on a major golf championship since the launch of sports betting on May 1.

As Norb Gambuzza, the PGA Tour senior vice president for media and gaming, said in the press release:

“BetMGM is part of a premium brand that is deeply connected to golf through sponsorship of various PGA Tour players and tournaments. Through the power of the BetMGM brand and resources, this new relationship will help accelerate our sports betting strategy, and enable the tour to reach new fans and further engage current fans who enjoy betting on golf.”

Colorado sports bettors like golf

The deal makes sense because the PGA Tour is one of the most popular betting options on the BetMGM app, according to the press release.

The release adds that the app offers the latest betting odds, enhanced offers and multiple betting formats, from moneyline betting and point spread betting to parlay betting and futures betting.

As for sports betting in Colorado, golf is a hit. In the first two months, golf has been in the top 10 for wagers by sport.

Golf betting in Colorado had handles of $1.4 million in May and $3.4 million in June. With the return of MLB, the NBA and NHL, we’ll see if that holds.

BetMGM is one of the 10 online betting apps live in the state. It’s available on iPhone and Android.

BetMGM operates the app in conjunction with the Midnight Rose Hotel and Casino in Cripple Creek.

Matt Prevost, the BetMGM chief marketing officer, said in the release:

“We look forward to working with the PGA Tour to integrate great experiences for BetMGM customers. BetMGM’s advanced betting technology, combined with the PGA Tour’s world-class competitions and iconic players, will not only advance the Tour’s position at the forefront of professional sports, but the entire betting industry as well.”

BetMGM also has current sponsorships with several members of the PGA Tour. The release notes some of the players include Max Homa, Jimmy Walker, Kevin Na and Boo Weekley.

In a sports betting world where operators look for any advantage they can find, BetMGM is all in.
